The desire to communicate with people at large distances gave birth to the idea of chat rooms. A chat room is an application on the internet where you can communicate through text, images, and emotions with other people anywhere in the world.

One such chat room that came into existence in the age of the ’90's was a Yahoo chat room. Yahoo released its chat room on 7 January 1997. Later on, it was renamed as “Yahoo Messenger” in 1999. Finally, in 2012, Yahoo chat room officially went down.

After the Yahoo chat room went down, new chat rooms with new features and facilities captured the whole market. Here is the list of some chat rooms that are freely available on the internet:

1. Badoo- This chat room allows you to chat, meet and date new people, whom you met through this place, in your proximity, or over the world.

2. SKOUT- With this chat room you can meet and chat with people along with an additional feature of live streaming.

3. Teenchat- This chat room is similar to every other chat room, which just requires your username to enter the chat room and with that, you get an entry in a chat room where you can converse with anybody.

 4. ChatForFree- This chat is freely available on the internet where you register yourself first. Along with chatting, it also provides the facility of video calling with the person on the other side. You can also share pictures and emoticons through this platform.
